The trick to getting super shiny gold metallics is to use Everclear alcohol, not regular vodka.
.
AND to blot on the metallic, not brush. Of course, a little brushing is necessary, but largely, I’m just dabbing the area to be painted. The end result is a much more consistent coverage that, when dry, stays super shiny.

The longest wait for a cup of coffee…. But worth it!

This was my first attempt at using a technique I’ve seen @paintedladiespastry (and a few others) use a lot to shape royal icing. And while I could use some more practice, I’m happy with how the “sculpting” technique made my bag look flat and more realistic.

Such a fun project to challenge my creativity and skills!
